I Got a Flat Tire and That’s OK.

November 18, 2010 in Affirmations, Self-Discovery Exercises, Spiritual by Tara

I got a flat tire the other day. I was feeling pretty upbeat and motivated previous to the discovery. The day before I went on a mini shopping spree (because I completely deserve one, it is a rare thing for me) and was feeling really good about money. I was in “that space”, in the flow, allowing abundance to move through me. So when I came out of Sally’s Beauty Supply store to see my rear tire was down…way down, I was like, “Awwwwe man, really?” I’ll admit, a little guilt about the previous days spending started to kick in. Then, luckily, I caught myself. “No Tara, no need to go there. You deserve everything you charged yesterday. You will pay it off and you WILL take care of this too. You are abundant! Everything is ok!” Yeah, ya know what? I was right. It totally is!

I think sometimes I can get a little freaked out when these unplanned things happen. But these things happen, right? So how do we respond to them when they do? Do you feel you get pissed, angry, and over dramatic? Or do you take a deep breath, take care of it (whatever is in your power) and allow the good into your life?

After abruptly switching my tempo, everything fell into place. Fortunately, a gas station, which I never noticed before, was right across the way from the shopping center. Without ruining my rims and slicing the tire (I had a little concern over that happening. It’s happened before) I was able to drive the car over and put air in the wilting tire. That’s when I noticed the cute, little, shinny silver nail nestled in the center of the hard rubber grid.

I drove the car to the dealership, which was luckily only 5.5 miles away. During this whole experience, I thought of how thankful I am to have the money to fix whatever was about to happen. Sometimes, I get a little angry over having to spend money on things like this. These unplanned nuances. However, I’m always quick to remind myself how fortunate I am. Because lately I’ve always had the money to take care of these issues. It could be worse, and it could also always be better. Be happy, no matter what. You can always make a situation work in your favor.

I arrive at the dealership, and they said they’ll look at the tire and may be able to repair it. Repair it?!?!?! That would rock. And so it was! I did not have to buy a new tire. They were able to patch it up. I was there for less than 30 minutes AND they even put my car through the car wash! This couldn’t have gone any smoother and any better. I was so happy with the service, I made sure to tip the guy that helped me. He didn’t want to take it and I said please do. I spent a mere $25 on the repairs and to continue in the flow of abundance a tip was surely in order.

Here is a list of what I am thankful for out of this experience,

  • I was right near a gas station.
  • I made it to the gas station.
  • I had cash on me to put air in the tires.
  • The air filled tire hung in there to get us over to the car dealership.
  • The people at the car dealership were nice.
  • The tire was able to be repaired instead of replaced.
  • It cost less than it could have.
  • I was only at the dealership for 30 minutes. I thought that was pretty quick.
  • The dealership washed my car! For free! 🙂
  • I was still able to get everything done that I needed to for the day.

These are the things we need to focus on when life throws us a little curve ball, even a big one. Have fun experimenting with it. I guarantee you’ll feel better about your situation, as opposed to making a complaint list.

Did I manifest this list of ease? You can be the judge of that. I know that once I accepted the reality of the situation and became thankful, everything changed. Everything is ALWAYS ok. You just have to see it that way for yourself. When you relax and feel capable you are able to pay attention to all the good happening around you. And more will flow right in….
